Resto 35 Konnichiwa, Hornsey

After a slightly fraught day in Royal London I was hungered and meeting an old friend in Hornsey. Hornsey has been very well covered in these pages over the years due to it being theatre central for the Playaz and so I was very happy when she suggested somewhere new and a bit different to the usual pizza.

Konnichiwa is a small place on the corner which looks to be doing as much business on the takeaway side as it is in the restaurant. The menu is pretty much a list of familiar favourites (seemingly hundreds of them!) and it took us a while to work out what it was that we wanted.

I was ravenous so main was a generous splash of noodles with prawns. Did I want them spicy hot? Youbetcha, and they were just that. And utterly delicious. To begin we shared some edamame and a slather of veggie gyoza. All good. An ice cold Asahi on the side meant that I was utterly pleased all round, especially so when Karen paid the (modestly sized) bill. Not worth a detour but definitely a good option if you’re in the area.

7/10
