Resto 32 The Wine Library, Tower Hill

The morning was spent toiling away in the Tower of London on a pretty hot day with a charming family from America. But sometimes three hours of displaying the better side of one’s nature can be a thirst inducing business.

I had a rdv with the old boy at the Horniman at Hay’s (which is principally memorable for my post-jury service booze up) as a prelude to HMS B. But my feet were telling me and the keels of steel were not on their plan.

So we retired back to Tower Hill and the cool dungeon that is The Wine Library. Run by a charming feller, we knew we’d found a good place. Four white wines by the glass, it seemed rude not to sample each one. A generous helping of cheese and stuff, a bottle in the bag for later and I’d cleared out half my earnings from that morning. But you know what? I’m 50, the kids are took care of and money is to be used either to help others, do what’s necessary or to give you a moment when you think, ‘I’m happy’.

Bon addresse. Cannot believe I didn’t go there when I worked in St KD but then again I was a lot less like me then.
