Resto 23 Blue Moon Thai Café,Tufnell Park

With James shortly starting an evening shift we needed to eat fairly rapidly yet in Tufnell Park found it difficult to do so. The Italian we wanted to try had a function on; the next Italian we tried the feller running the place failed to turn around to notice us when we went in so we turned around and walked off; and a lot of places didn’t open till 6.
So we turned to Blue Moon, just up the road from Authentique. A standard Thai menu I went for the Massaman Curry with some prawn crackers and a beer. Across the way he asked for a chicken something and water, being a sensible lad. The Massaman was a bit of a bloodless affair without the level of spicing (or variety) that you get at the always excellent Granary Thai round our way. A good helping of spuds meant that he could have the lion’s share of the sticky rice. The beer wasn’t cold enough for the hottest day of the year. Oh and James’s dish came with tofu rather than meat but he just ate it anyway, not wanting to waste further time.
Service was a family affair which is why I’m loth to give a low score. But bland and wrong food isn’t worth more than a
5/10
On the other hand my glass of Loire Valley rosé taken in the garden of l’Authentique was the perfect pre-party apéritif. Auf wiedersehn Fabian and keep up the acting!
