Resto 30 Le Métropole, Lille

We picked the coldest week of the year to watch a match in Lille. The match was great but challenging given that 1) We’d had quite a lot of strong beer beforehand and 2) By the time we got out we hadn’t had anything to eat since breakfast. The reason we hadn’t eaten a chip baguette like everyone else at the ground was probably connected to a pair of hangovers. By the time we got back to the city we were ravenous.

No, it’s not very close, it’s just very, very big. Nutella by Le Met.

And it being Sunday ravening was not easily solved. Anywhere decent was shut or only serving drinks. Even Hippopotamus couldn’t accommodate us! So we ended up selecting Le M for the simple fact that it was doing food. Or ‘food’. A pretty ropey burger for me and a frankly frightening looking ‘filet Américan’ for him. Which turned out to be a pink steak tartare. But hell, beggars can’t be choosers so we just ate it. And drank beer. I’ve definitely eaten better in Lille. We showed poor technique.

3/10
