Resto 15, The Ivy, Winchester

.

Winchester station.

A catch up with work colleagues meant that Sunday morning found me hungered and mullered. The Premier Inn breakfast didn’t appeal so I made the pilgrimage to Winch proper to get some of the good stuff.

It’s a bright scene in The Ivy and I was probably the shabbiest thing in there. The couple next to me were kicking off with champagne and I was half tempted but decided to hold my fire until the Vine-Exchange double (neither a patch on their 90s peak but then I could plead guilty to that too).

The breakfast was excellent, e*g replaced by an extra sausage. Highlight though was the service, a fruity actory type making the most of his mastery of the linen to make tired people happy and hungry people satisfied.

I’ve never been to a branch of The Ivy before out of some weird prejudice but this might make me visit a branch in London.

9/10
