Resto 21, Piperno, Clermont-Ferrand

We’d spent an afternoon watching L’Etranger – half perfume ad, half philosophical enquiry – and then hit the Christmas market in Place Jaude (where I secured a hefty amount of donkey soap) and we were looking for foods. You’d think that would be easy to come by but not at Ostrog 2. After having sat down the maitre d’ appeared to run out of the door, possibly never to return. Or maybe he was commuting to Ostrog 1 or Ostrog 3. We ruminated on how restaurants could have the same naming system in France as their universities and then went elsewhere.

Elsewhere turned out to be Piperno. But no pasta to be had we were told. Not a problem we replied. There’s a dozen or so pizzas on the menu, I had one with ham and stuff on it with a cold Peroni.

And it was fine. Student end pizza, service and room, all good. We then rolled down the hill to The Still and its Christmas megamix.

Christmas, Clermont style

6/10
