Resto 2 Brunswick House, Vauxhall

Yet another trip to South London for the second Resto of the year after we’d been invited by Cousin Kirsty to Brunswick House for a family catch up. However, having been out with a friend from Taiwan for the afternoon I probably wasn’t in the best condition for fine dining, even in a chabby shic pub in Vauxhall.
The room is good and reminded me of the much lamented Trois Garçons in Shoreditch (there’s one for the kids). Before I’d even sat down I saw a fig negroni on the menu and had that. The food was outstanding (so was the cocktail) but it being a while ago the details escape me. Definitely a very good smoked trout to start, followed I think by something meat. Did I have a dessert? It’s possible. I do know that I had a fair amount of wine. Excellent service ensured a happy table and while it’s not cheap I didn’t feel stung given the quality of the product.
In the unlikely event that I’ll be looking for fine dining after close of play at the Oval Brunswick House will be where I’ll be headed.
