Resto 12, Jardin d’Hiver, Le Crillon
This is a bit of a cheat as I already reviewed Les Ambassadeurs (now, sadly, defunct) in the Retro Restos strand. But I hadn’t paid for that meal, and also, Le Crillon is a different beast these days. As am I.
Fresh out of the Japanese place we turned up off spec for a big anniversary (30 years!) celebration. Could they fit us in a corner of the Jardin? Delighted to was the reply. We ordered champagne. It rolled in with the regulation olives’n’nuts (well, not regulation, rather superior in fact) and, what’s this? Delicious, juicy madeleines and a chocolate bon anniversaire message. Super!
The room is beautiful and you can people watch with gusto. The staff were really friendly and thirty years on I’m much more at ease in five star company.

Unscoreable.
