Resto 13, Toraya, Paris

We were planning a raid on Le Crillon but it was a bit early. So coffee was on the agenda. The local coffee shop was rammed (it was a rainy day) and not with sympa gens so we squeezed into Toraya before their lunchtime rush began.

Coffee was still on my mind though so I ordered an expresso. Toraya goes big on high end confectionery and Japanese specialities (there’s a whole story going back to the Samurai period) so I got a couple of sherbety things too with pictures of the P de la C and the ET on them. V tasty. Canny expensive for a glorified Pez though.

Japanese minimalism at Toraya

The star of the show is the room. Pure tranquility and Japanese minimalism. I couldn’t live like it but I liked the stopover.

8/10
