Tango, Antwerp
A rare opportunity for Tariq to exercise his resto picking muscles and he did us proud. It was a warm weekend in Antwerp so we opted to sit outside. Less hardy should moved their tables to chase the sun but we were content to remain close to the room, even if it was in the shade.
Like Café Deco Tango has a stripped back menu and a funky wine list. Both winners in this laid back company. While we were perusing the wine list I took a very gentle Negroni and scoffed high quality olives and bread with a slather of meats from Mike’s starter. A tricky mix up over the wine didn’t spoil the mood and so we had Mallorcan white followed by its already-opened red sibling. Asparagus slipped down nicely, followed by a turbot shared with T across the way. Then, as we were on holiday, a yuzu ice cream – the pink peppercorn was deliciously apparent – washed down with a not too sweet Côte du Gascogne.
Contentment doesn’t always make for good copy. So this review is contentedly brief.
9/10
