Restaurant 15, Notto, Covent Garden

If someone had told me during my GCSEs that one day I would be paid to hang out with thirty sixteen year old Argentinian girls for a week in London I would have laughed in their face. And wished desperately that it would come true. Now that it has come to pass I’m more ambivalent about the experience. But on the whole it was a good week and (I think?) all involved had a good time.

One of the big pluses of doing big group work (I usually work solo with families) was getting to hang out for a week with colleagues and learn from them about bits of London that weren’t familiar to me and how to cope with a horde of noisy teenagers who weren’t desperately interested in the regeneration of Bankside in the 1990s but were furiously into shopping.

Hence, lunch breaks were a boon. Sue recommended Notto as a quick, tasty, value for money option in the heart fo Covent Garden (bang opposite the market) and she wasn’t wrong.

The room is bigger than it looks from the outside with a clientèle mostly of fellow Londoners with a smattering of tourists. Our eyeballs were on the set lunch with plenty of options of pasta and salads. I had a Tuscan salad packed full of beans and artichoke with a gurt lump (and Italian term) of foccaccia to soak up the sharp vinaigrette. Alongside that a peppery gazpacho and with an afternoon at the BM in prospect I foreswore the vino and stuck to water.

Service was prompt and friendly and we were in and out easliy within an hour. At under twenty quid this was the perfect pit stop and I might be tempted to come back to see what they offer for pre-theatre. Recommended.

8/10
